IPOB Lawyer Ejiofor Slams Emma Powerful Over Feb. 2 Lockdown, Says He’s Compromised.

Human rights lawyer and lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on Ndigbo to totally disregard the lockdown directive announced by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Emma Powerful had earlier declared that the entire South-East would be shut down on Monday, February 2, 2026, in solidarity with traders at Onitsha Main Market, whose shops were sealed by Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, for repeatedly observing sit-at-home orders.

Governor Soludo had maintained that the market must operate every Monday and that traders are required to open their shops.

However, in what appears to be a sharp internal disagreement within IPOB, Ejiofor, in a statement made available to journalists, urged residents to ignore the directive, insisting that IPOB has long renounced sit-at-home actions and has no link to the alleged order.

He described the announcement as false and misleading, stressing that it did not originate from the group.

“Let it be made abundantly clear, without equivocation or doubt, that this directive is fake — a phantom and a deliberate fabrication,” Ejiofor stated.

He added that mere advice to ignore statements from the Emma Powerful platform was no longer sufficient, calling instead for firmness and clarity.

According to him, investigations revealed that the platform had been compromised and hijacked by interests that thrive on fear, disruption, extortion, and the exploitation of vulnerable communities.

Ejiofor said IPOB has formally and unequivocally disowned the publication, distancing itself from the alleged sit-at-home order and urging Ndigbo to carry on with their lawful activities without fear or intimidation.

“Going forward, any publication attributed to ‘Emma Powerful’ should be treated with extreme suspicion, if not outright contempt,” he said.

He expressed concern that such a directive was being circulated at a time when relative calm was gradually returning to the South-East, warning that false information could reopen old wounds and create opportunities for criminal elements.

Ejiofor recalled the heavy toll previously paid when fake directives were exploited by violent opportunists posing as enforcers.

He concluded that the Emma Powerful platform, in its current state, has become hostile to peace, progress, and the collective well-being of Ala-Igbo.
