Chairman of the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms Committee, Taiwo Oyedele, has revealed that Nigerian workers are earning more under the newly implemented tax laws, thanks to reduced Pay As You Earn (PAYE) deductions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a post on on Monday, Oyedele shared that feedback from workers who received their January 2026 salaries shows higher take-home pay, indicating that the new tax framework is easing the burden on salary earners whose taxes are deducted at source.

“The feedback from workers who received their January 2026 salaries confirms a reduction in PAYE tax, resulting in higher take-home pay under the new tax laws,” Oyedele stated.

He explained that the reforms are particularly beneficial for employees whose income taxes are directly deducted by their employers. However, he noted that further engagement is needed to ensure correct implementation of the new provisions.

Oyedele disclosed that the Committee, in partnership with the Joint Revenue Board, will hold an online session this week for key stakeholders involved in payroll and tax administration.

The session will focus on proper application of the new Personal Income Tax rules and is aimed at HR directors, payroll managers, CFOs, tax managers, and other senior executives. It will address implementation gaps and clarify compliance requirements for employers.

According to Oyedele, the engagement will ensure employees fully benefit from the reforms while helping employers remain compliant with the updated legal framework.
