Nigerian stars delivered another action-packed weekend across Europe and beyond, with goals, assists, landmark achievements, and comebacks from injury or international duty dominating headlines. From the Premier League to Turkey, France, Italy, and Saudi Arabia, Super Eagles and Super Falcons players showcased their growing impact abroad.

Awoniyi and Aina Lead Nottingham Forest to Victory
In England, Nottingham Forest secured a crucial 2-0 away win over Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, thanks to decisive contributions from Taiwo Awoniyi and Ola Aina. Aina, starting at right-back, delivered a precise cross for Igor Jesus to score Forest’s opener. Awoniyi entered in the 68th minute and struck 11 minutes later to seal the win—his first goal for Forest since February 2025, ending a 348-day drought over 29 matches.

Meanwhile, Aina’s performance highlighted his return to full fitness after missing Nigeria’s AFCON bronze campaign. Chrisantus Uche also featured for Crystal Palace in a 3-1 loss to Chelsea, making his 11th Premier League appearance of the season.

Mixed Fortunes in France
In Ligue 1, Chidozie Awaziem returned for Nantes but could not prevent a 4-1 home defeat to Nice, though he assisted Mostafa Mohamed’s consolation goal. At Paris FC, Moses Simon was an unused substitute in a goalless draw against Angers.

Ligue 2 saw a bright moment as Hafiz Ibrahim scored the winner in Stade de Reims’ 1-0 victory over Saint-Étienne, helping lift the club to third place on 35 points.

Italy: Lookman Back in Action
Ademola Lookman returned for Atalanta in Serie A, making a 13-minute appearance in a 4-0 rout of Parma. After a disrupted start to the season due to transfer issues, Lookman’s return follows a stellar AFCON campaign where he recorded four goals and three assists for Nigeria.

In Serie A Women, Super Falcons’ Rinsola Babajide and Shukurat Oladipo came off the bench as AS Roma secured a 1-0 win over Genoa, extending their perfect league run to nine victories.

Belgium and Croatia Highlights
In Belgium, Yira Sor scored his second league goal for Genk in a 1-1 draw against Cercle Brugge. Meanwhile, in Croatia, Istra 1961 pulled off a 2-1 away win over Hajduk Split, with one-cap Super Eagles midfielder Salim Lawal on the bench and Israel Ayuma playing 34 minutes.

Turkey: Otu and Osimhen Shine
Regina Otu starred in a historic Fenerbahçe Women 18-0 demolition of ALG Spor Women, scoring the 16th goal in a record-setting match.

Victor Osimhen stole the show in Turkey, scoring in Galatasaray’s 3-1 win over Karagümrük. The goal marked his return from AFCON duty, taking his season tally to 13 goals in all competitions and 50 goals since joining Galatasaray—cementing his status as one of the club’s most prolific forwards.

Spanish and English Contributions
In Spain, Akor Adams netted the winner for Sevilla in a 2-1 home victory over Athletic Bilbao, while Chidera Ejuke made a late appearance. Back in England, Caleb Chukwueze scored for Fulham in a thrilling 2-1 comeback win against Brighton, with Alex Iwobi starting and playing 88 minutes.

Nigerian footballers across multiple leagues demonstrated their talent, resilience, and influence, keeping the Super Eagles’ flag flying high on the global stage.
