‘ADC Ticket Won’t Be Easy For Anyone Else’ – Baba-Ahmed Tells Peter Obi In Atiku Favoured
Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has said securing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election would be extremely difficult for any aspirant other than former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Baba-Ahmed made the remark during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday.
He cautioned that the conduct of some supporters of the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is not helping his political prospects, warning that constant attacks and insults could weaken his position within the democratic process.
According to Baba-Ahmed, Peter Obi needs to rein in his supporters and adopt a calmer, more strategic approach ahead of the 2027 elections. While commending Obi for his extensive nationwide engagements and efforts to remain connected with grassroots supporters, he noted that the political terrain ahead would be far more competitive.
He stressed that Obi must recognise the reality of contesting against experienced and determined politicians who are equally focused on securing party tickets.
Baba-Ahmed further advised Obi to emulate Atiku Abubakar’s approach by publicly calling his supporters to order and discouraging hostile exchanges between political camps.
“I think Peter Obi and his supporters are not helping his case,” Baba-Ahmed said. “He has travelled widely and stayed in touch with the grassroots, which is good. But now he must come to terms with the fact that he is running against hardline politicians who want the same thing he wants.
“What Vice President Atiku did by telling his supporters to calm down and avoid trading insults is something Peter Obi should do even more. In a democratic process, consensus matters, and it often involves key political figures. While the ADC ticket is technically open, it will be very difficult for anyone to secure it other than Atiku.”

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
