Speaking to journalists after the meeting in Abuja on Tuesday evening, PDP National Chairman Tanimu Turaki (SAN) said Sambo reaffirmed his continued membership and loyalty to the party.
According to Turaki, Sambo also offered strategic guidance on strengthening unity, legality, and electoral competitiveness ahead of upcoming elections.
The meeting brought together members of the Board of Trustees, the National Working Committee, founding fathers and mothers of the party, National Assembly members, state chairmen, former ministers, governors, lawmakers, and other key stakeholders from across Nigeria.
Turaki said party leaders briefed Sambo on the opportunities and challenges the PDP has faced since the emergence of the current leadership in Ibadan. The former Vice President pledged to become more active in party affairs and make himself available whenever the PDP requires guidance.
“He generously offered advice on how to propel the PDP to once again become a veritable winning platform for Nigerians. Most importantly, he assured us that he is, and will remain, a committed member of the PDP, and very soon will be even more active than before,” Turaki said.
Sambo encouraged the party leadership to consult him whenever necessary, promising to respond promptly.
“So we are delighted that our leaders, those who have been central to the PDP’s successes, are with us and will remain with us,” Turaki added.
Reassuring party members and Nigerians, the PDP chairman declared that the party is back on a winning path.
“We will continue to tell Nigerians, and our party members everywhere, that the PDP is the biggest and greatest party in Africa. The party is on the move again. Very soon, we will return to our winning ways and position ourselves to win all upcoming elections, beginning with the FCT Area Council polls, followed by the Ekiti and Osun off-season elections. I assure everyone that we are on course,” Turaki stated.
