The incident took place during the hearing of Suit No: I/74c/2024 — The State vs. Mukaila Lamidi (Auxiliary). While seated in the dock awaiting his case, Auxiliary reportedly slumped without warning, causing panic among lawyers, court staff, and other attendees.

Court and security personnel quickly rushed to assist him as confusion spread through the courtroom. The presiding judge, Justice Bayo Taiwo, suspended proceedings immediately, unable to continue with the day’s business.

Auxiliary was promptly evacuated from the courtroom and taken to the Agodi Correctional Centre clinic, where he is currently receiving urgent medical attention. The extent of his condition has not been officially disclosed.

The former NURTW chairman faces a 17-count charge involving armed robbery, murder, attempted murder, and unlawful possession of firearms. According to the charge sheet, the alleged offences include possession and use of an AK-47 rifle and two submachine guns (SMGs), along with their magazines.

The charges relate to incidents said to have occurred on May 29, 2023, around 2:00 pm, near the Ikolaba residence of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.

As of now, it remains unclear when the court will resume the hearing of the case.
