Breaking: Police Confirm Large-Scale Abductions In Kaduna.

Published

on

The Nigeria Police Force has confirmed that a mass abduction occurred in Kurmin Wali, a remote community in Kajuru Local Government Area, Kaduna State, following “thorough verification and intelligence assessments.”....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The confirmation comes after controversy arose from earlier statements by government officials who initially denied that any kidnapping took place in the area.

On Monday, Kaduna State Police Commissioner Muhammad Rabiu, the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shu’aibu, and Kajuru Local Government Chairman Dauda Madaki had told journalists that no kidnapping occurred in Ungwan Wali.

However, community and religious leaders, including Rev. John Joseph Hayab, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Kaduna State, and Sabastine Barde, President of the Adara Development Association (ADA), strongly refuted the claim. They alleged that at least 177 people were abducted during attacks on Sunday, with only a few managing to escape. The leaders insisted they had the names of those kidnapped, contradicting official assurances.

Police Explain Earlier Statements

In a press statement on Tuesday night, signed by Force Public Relations Officer CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the police acknowledged the confusion caused by the conflicting reports.

The statement noted that the Kaduna State Governor had convened an emergency meeting of the State Security Council after the initial abduction reports.

“During the meeting, some individuals from the affected local government disputed the report, calling it false,” the statement read. “This disagreement created uncertainty and highlighted the need for careful verification by security agencies before issuing definitive public statements.”

The police clarified that earlier comments by the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police were intended to prevent panic, not dismiss the incident.

“The remarks, later misinterpreted by sections of the public, were not a denial of the incident but a preliminary response pending confirmation from field reports, including the number and identities of those affected,” Hundeyin explained.

Subsequent verification by operational units and intelligence sources has now confirmed that the abduction did occur.

Following the confirmation, Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun ordered the full deployment of operational and intelligence resources to Kajuru and surrounding communities.

The measures include tactical unit deployment, intensified patrols, targeted search-and-rescue operations, and reinforced protection of lives and property.

The police appealed to residents and media to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies, urging reliance on official communications to avoid speculation, which could hamper rescue efforts and increase public fear.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to safeguarding lives and property and will provide timely updates as the situation develops,” the statement concluded.
