Why Kano Governor May Dump NNPP For APC — Aide.
The Kano State Government has shed light on the growing speculation that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf may be considering a move from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, said Kano’s long-standing position outside the ruling party at the centre has delivered little in terms of tangible development for the state.
He noted that historically, Kano has often operated in opposition to the federal government, questioning the benefits of that stance over the years.
Tracing past political eras, Bature said Kano remained in opposition during different administrations, yet the state gained little from being politically distant from the centre.
He explained that assessing what Kano stands to gain or lose by remaining outside the ruling party is a critical issue that must be carefully considered before any major political decision is taken.
Bature also dismissed claims that recent interactions between the governor and the Presidency were driven by partisan interests.
According to him, the engagements were focused primarily on development matters and discussions around the current challenges and realities facing the state, rather than political alignment.
