A source close to the family confirmed the development on Tuesday evening, disclosing that the 90-year-old socialite may be dealing with age-related health issues.

According to the source, concerns have been raised that Benson could be suffering from dementia associated with old age.

Her family had raised the alarm on Sunday after her whereabouts remained unknown for more than 48 hours. In a public notice, they stated that she was last seen on January 13 and failed to return home, describing the situation as urgent.

The family appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with useful information, no matter how small, to come forward or report to the nearest police station.

Attempts to contact the family through the phone number shared in the notice were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report, as calls and messages went unanswered.

Born on February 7, 1935, Opral Benson is an American-Liberian and Nigerian entrepreneur and prominent socialite. She holds the respected traditional title of Iya Oge of Lagos.

She was married to the late Chief T.O.S. Benson from 1962 until his death and has built a distinguished career spanning education, fashion, and corporate administration.

Benson currently runs a fashion and beauty school in Lagos and previously served as a director at Johnson’s Products, the Nigerian subsidiary of the multinational company.

In 2012, she was appointed Honorary Consul of Liberia in Lagos, a role that further reinforced her longstanding ties to both Nigeria and Liberia.
