ADC Suspends Bauchi Ally, Expels Factional Chair Over Impersonation.

Published

on

The Bauchi State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has announced the expulsion of a factional chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Aminu Muhammad, and the suspension of his associate, Babayo Musa Garba, accusing them of impersonating party officials and plotting to destabilise the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The party made the disclosure on Sunday during a press briefing in Bauchi, where it reaffirmed Haruna Hassan as its duly recognised State Chairman.

Speaking to journalists, the ADC Assistant Publicity Secretary, Harsanu Guyaba, said the party was shocked by a statement circulated on Saturday, January 17, 2026, by what he described as “impostors and disgruntled elements,” who claimed to have suspended the state chairman and replaced him with his deputy over alleged anti-party activities.

Guyaba said the action was a calculated move to undermine the party’s unity and growing influence in the state.

He described the conduct of the individuals as unacceptable and contrary to the party’s core values and principles.

According to him, Aminu Muhammad had already been expelled from the party, while Babayo Musa Garba was placed on suspension, as conveyed in separate letters dated January 2, 2026.

He emphasised that the ADC does not recognise any internal structure operating under the name ALGON.

“The two individuals lack the legitimacy to speak for or act on behalf of the party. Aminu Muhammad is no longer a member, while Babayo Musa Garba remains under suspension. The ADC does not recognise the so-called ALGON structure being paraded,” Guyaba stated.

The party urged members of the public to ignore statements or publications attributed to the duo, stressing that they do not represent the ADC in any capacity.

Guyaba also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission and security agencies to take note of the situation, assuring supporters that the party’s leadership in Bauchi remained united and committed to internal democracy, justice and credible leadership.

However, Aminu Muhammad rejected the claim of his expulsion, insisting that he remained a card-carrying ADC member in Bauchi State for the past eight years.

He said he was never served with any expulsion letter and maintained that he remained the chairman of the ALGON structure within the party.

Muhammad further alleged that chairmen of the 20 local government ADC chapters in the state had invited the state chairman to appear before a disciplinary committee over alleged violations of the party’s constitution and anti-party conduct.

He claimed the invitation, dated January 6, 2026, was ignored, prompting the local government chairmen to act in line with the party’s constitution.

“Based on the provisions of Article 15(C)(3) of the ADC Constitution, we resolved to suspend the State Chairman, Mallam Hassan Haruna, with immediate effect,” he said.

Muhammad added that the Deputy State Chairman, Mallam Mahmood Tabla, had been asked to take over in an acting capacity pending the conduct of a valid congress, while the suspended chairman was granted a 14-day window to appeal the decision.

According to him, NAF air platforms successfully engaged the targets using precision-guided munitions, destroying the structures, neutralising multiple terrorists, and dismantling key logistics facilities. This was later confirmed through battle damage assessments.

The statement added that sustained air operations have continued to weaken terrorist networks, disrupting their activities and forcing them into more defensive and unstable responses.
