“Christian Genocide In Nigeria: Gumi Accuses US Of Cover-Up, Responds To Shehu Sani”.
Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has accused the United States of deliberately using claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria as a cover to advance its interests.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Gumi was responding to comments by former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, who reacted to a New York Times report alleging that claims of Christian genocide in Nigeria originated from an Onitsha-based screwdriver trader named Emeka.
According to the report, Emeka, described as the operator of a small non-governmental organisation, allegedly claimed to have documented about 125,000 Christian deaths through Google searches.
Reacting to the report on X, Sani expressed shock over how such unverified claims gained international traction.
“It is unfortunate and tragic to read the New York Times report that the claim of ‘Christian genocide’ was sourced from one Emeka, an Onitsha-based screwdriver trader and operator of a small NGO, who falsely claimed to have documented ‘125,000 Christian deaths’ using Google searches,” Sani wrote.
He added that it was disturbing that the claim reportedly influenced US lawmakers, the President, and the intelligence community, allegedly culminating in military airstrikes, describing the situation as shameful and absurd.
In his reaction, Gumi dismissed the idea that US intelligence agencies were misled, insisting they were fully aware of the facts.
“US intelligence is not stupid. They know everything, but wanted a Nigerian cover for their interest,” Gumi wrote on Facebook.
The controversy followed reports that allegations of Christian genocide in Nigeria influenced President Donald Trump’s decision to order military airstrikes in Sokoto State.
