Traffic Horror: Scores Injured As Flour Truck Slams Cars On Kara Bridge.
Several commuters were injured on Sunday following a multiple-vehicle accident on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway at the Kara Bridge axis, inward Mowe, resulting in hours of heavy traffic on the busy highway.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The crash reportedly occurred when a truck carrying bags of flour lost control and ploughed into several vehicles, including commercial buses and private cars, sparking panic among motorists.
Eyewitnesses said the out-of-control truck rammed into two fully loaded interstate commercial buses and other vehicles before overturning on the bridge.
A Toyota Corolla that had been parked on the bridge due to a flat tyre was also hit during the incident, leaving its driver injured. A RAV4 sports utility vehicle was similarly affected, further worsening the scale of the crash.
Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency were immediately deployed to the scene to rescue victims and manage traffic.
Confirming the incident in a statement on its official social media handle, LASTMA said the crash involved multiple vehicles and caused significant traffic disruption.
“A multiple-vehicle accident involving a truck that overturned, a Corolla, an SUV (RAV4), and two fully loaded interstate Mazda buses has been recorded on Kara Bridge inward Mowe. Police officers and our officials are currently on ground managing the situation,” the agency stated.
While authorities did not immediately confirm any fatalities, there were conflicting reports from eyewitnesses, with some claiming that casualties may have occurred. However, this could not be independently verified as of the time of reporting.
Officials said assessments were ongoing to determine the exact number of injured persons and any possible loss of life.
The accident triggered severe traffic congestion, leaving thousands of commuters stranded for hours as vehicles built up from both directions. Some motorists were seen abandoning their vehicles, while others sought alternative routes to escape the gridlock.
LASTMA later announced that partial recovery of affected vehicles had been completed, leading to a gradual improvement in traffic flow.
“Our operatives are on ground ensuring the safety of motorists and working with the FRSC to restore free flow of traffic,” the agency added.
The incident has once again raised concerns about road safety on Kara Bridge, which has witnessed several serious accidents in recent years.
Authorities said investigations were ongoing to determine the cause of the crash, as commuters renewed calls for stricter enforcement of safety regulations on the heavily trafficked bridge.

Akpabio Camp Row Deepens As APC Chieftain Rejects Suspension Report.
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akwa Ibom State, Chief Edet Ben, has denied involvement in the alleged suspension of Mr. Eseme Eyiboh, Special Adviser to the Senate President on Media and Publicity, from the party in Ward 9, Esit Eket Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ben, who serves as an Ex-Officio member of the party in Ward 9, threatened legal action against those behind what he described as the forgery of his name and signature on documents claiming Eyiboh’s suspension.
In a sworn court affidavit, Ben described the purported suspension process as fraudulent and non-existent.
He stated that no meeting was held on April 22 to discuss or approve any disciplinary measures against Eyiboh or any other party member, adding that he neither attended nor endorsed such proceedings.
Ben also alleged that his name and signature were falsely inserted into an attendance list linked to the alleged suspension exercise.
He subsequently disowned both the attendance document and the suspension letter reportedly sent to APC leadership at the chapter and state levels.
In his notice, Ben demanded the immediate removal of his name from the documents, a public retraction, and an end to any unauthorised use of his identity.
He warned that failure to comply within 24 hours would result in legal action.
The controversy follows an announcement by a faction within the ward claiming Eyiboh had been suspended over alleged anti-party activities.
Meanwhile, a grassroots political group, Ward Nine New Era (WNNE), has strongly condemned the move, describing it as malicious, baseless, and invalid.
The group argued that the action appeared targeted at a key political figure who had recently mobilised grassroots support for major APC leaders, including President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Governor Umo Eno.
WNNE also questioned the legitimacy of the ward executives behind the move and insisted that due process was not followed.
The group urged party members and the public to disregard the suspension, maintaining that it lacked credibility and legal standing.
