‘Expose Those Helping Terrorists’ — Ndume Tells Borno Residents.
Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South Senatorial District, has urged residents of Gwoza Local Government Area not to harbour or collaborate with terrorists, calling on communities to expose informants and take decisive action against anyone found aiding insurgents.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ndume issued the warning on Thursday during a visit to the Emir of Gwoza’s palace, where he met with the traditional ruler, local youths, and key stakeholders before proceeding to Bulabulin/Gwoza-Wakani Ward to obtain his All Progressives Congress (APC) digital membership card.
The senator said his visit was intended to strengthen political mobilisation, enhance community security, and encourage participation in the APC electronic registration and the ongoing Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration exercise.
“I am here to mobilise, encourage, and advocate for this registration. The turnout is encouraging, and by the grace of God, Gwoza will produce the highest number of voters in Borno State so that we can continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.
Ndume commended Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum for his development projects across Gwoza and the state at large, urging residents to remain united and politically active to attract further government interventions.
Addressing security at the Emir’s palace, the senator praised the Nigerian military, the Civilian Joint Task Force, local vigilantes, and residents for their resilience in protecting their communities.
“We will not tolerate anyone acting as an informant. Anyone found wanting will be dealt with decisively. You cannot live among your people and betray them,” Ndume warned.
He also expressed concern over the rising menace of drug abuse and other social vices, revealing that he has engaged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to help identify and apprehend drug peddlers in the area.
Ndume added that he is collaborating with women’s groups to tackle emerging social challenges and encouraged youths to enrol in the Federal College of Education, Gwoza, as well as the School of Nursing and Midwifery. He pledged to support the registration of underprivileged students to ensure they have access to education regardless of financial constraints.
The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Timta, lamented the growing problem of drug abuse among youths, noting that meaningful development cannot thrive in a community affected by substance abuse. He urged parents, traditional rulers, and youths to work collectively to eradicate the menace.
Earlier, the Director-General of the National Women Development Centre encouraged youths to shun crime and embrace productive ventures, noting that leaders in Gwoza are united in attracting sustainable development. She also urged APC members to obtain their digital membership cards and PVCs, highlighting that the local government remains one of the largest voting blocs in Borno State ahead of the 2027 general election.
