Why Didn’t They Reject ₦350m? — Fubara’s Aide Questions Lawmakers.

A Special Adviser to the Rivers State Governor, Darlington Orji, has accused members of the Rivers State House of Assembly of collecting ₦350 million each for constituency projects, despite claims by some lawmakers that certain payments made to them were not properly appropriated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Orji made the allegation on Friday while appearing on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he discussed the state’s budgetary process and the ongoing tension between the executive and the legislature.

Responding to reports that some lawmakers declined a ₦100,000 end-of-year payment made to civil servants and legislators in December, Orji described the stance as inconsistent and contradictory.

According to him, the same appreciation payment given to civil servants was also extended to members of the House, but some lawmakers rejected it on the grounds that it was not captured in the budget.

Orji insisted he would not make unfounded claims, stressing that disagreements over budget proposals between the governor and the legislature had prevented certain presentations from being formally submitted.

He explained that budget preparation involves adjustments and negotiations, noting that while specific figures were still under discussion, the governor had assured that outstanding concerns would be addressed later in the year.

Orji questioned why lawmakers would reject the ₦100,000 payment over appropriation concerns but accept ₦350 million each for constituency projects, asking where the larger sum came from and why it was not similarly turned down if it was truly unappropriated.
