Following the event in Guinea, Shettima is scheduled to travel to Davos, Switzerland, to participate in the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF), taking place from January 19 to 23, 2026.

The visit was confirmed in a statement by Shettima’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Stanley Nkwocha. Doumbouya’s inauguration is set for Saturday, January 18, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry.

Nkwocha noted that Shettima’s participation demonstrates Nigeria’s commitment to regional leadership, economic collaboration, and global engagement in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The visit also highlights Nigeria’s leadership within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), particularly in supporting Guinea’s transition back to constitutional governance after a four-year political transition.

The statement added that the trip will focus on strengthening bilateral trade, which recently saw Nigerian exports to Guinea, including manufactured goods and agricultural products, rise to $3.29 million.

Doumbouya, a former colonel in Guinea’s special forces, seized power in a military coup in September 2021, removing President Alpha Condé, who had controversially amended the constitution to pursue a third term. The coup led to Guinea’s suspension from ECOWAS and the African Union, with sanctions imposed and calls for a return to civilian rule. Following regional pressure and negotiations, elections were held, culminating in Doumbouya’s victory and marking Guinea’s official return to constitutional order.

After Conakry, Shettima will attend the WEF Annual Meeting in Davos-Klosters, which this year carries the theme “A Spirit of Dialogue.” The forum is expected to gather global leaders from government, business, civil society, and the scientific and cultural sectors. Discussions will focus on frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, next-generation biotechnology, and advanced energy systems.

According to Nkwocha, the forum aims to explore how these innovations can be responsibly leveraged to drive economic growth, expand access in emerging markets, build workforce skills, and promote sustainable and equitable development. Shettima is also expected to engage with international leaders and investors on Nigeria’s economic reform agenda, investment prospects, and Africa’s role in shaping a resilient, inclusive global economy.

The Vice President is slated to return to Nigeria upon completion of his engagements in Davos.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”

The cleric had earlier this week publicly invited proposals for her marriage, setting conditions that included the suitor being young and in good physical and mental health, alongside promised financial support and housing benefits.

He also said the couple would enjoy lifelong support, including shared property ownership and periodic welfare checks from church members.

The development follows a similar arrangement recently conducted by the church involving a non-verbal autistic man who was married in a ceremony organised by the ministry.
