Vice President Shettima, while delivering a heartfelt tribute, said her journey in public service has been shaped by consistency, personal discipline and strong character, stressing that genuine leadership requires the courage to pay the price of service.

Shettima noted that Usman’s achievements were not built on public spectacle or applause but on quiet dedication, responsible decision-making and the strengthening of institutions. He described her as a source of inspiration, particularly for young women in northern Nigeria, adding that her rise has provided proof that ambition, integrity and service can coexist.

He further stated that Usman earned her influence through a rare balance of grace and firmness, vision and excellence, pointing out that she assumed critical policy responsibilities early in her career at a time many were still finding their footing. According to him, her example should continue to inspire Nigerians who believe that committed service can elevate the nation.

Also speaking at the event, Senator Akume praised Usman’s discipline and dedication to duty, encouraging her to remain focused on advancing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, recalled her impactful tenure as Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, describing her leadership as transformative and legacy-driven.

He emphasized the depth of their bond, noting that they regularly share personal and professional matters.

Other speakers, including the Director-General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Zubaida Umar Abubakar, described Usman as a principled leader with quiet conviction, while former Director-General of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr Joe Abah, highlighted the challenges of public leadership and the long-term impact of decisions made in government service.

He reiterated that the 1993 filings and subsequent 2026 FBI declarations reflect a civil settlement over funds rather than proof of personal involvement, ultimately challenging the firm to back up its sweeping claims regarding institutional corruption.
