No Turning Back — South-East Leaders Endorse Tinubu, Shut Door On Rival Alliances.

According to Nivo News, leaders and key stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-East have unanimously declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid ahead of the 2027 general election.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The endorsement was reached on Sunday during a high-level Izu Umunne meeting held at the Presidential Hotel in Enugu, where party leaders resolved that the region would not be influenced by emerging political alliances aimed at challenging Tinubu’s re-election.

The decision came shortly after former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, announced his full membership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of his 2027 presidential ambition. However, the South-East APC leaders, in a communique issued at the end of their meeting, affirmed their “total, unwavering and unalloyed support” for President Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate in 2027.

The motion endorsing the president was moved by former Senate President, Pius Anyim, and seconded by another former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, who described the move as a bold and strategic decision in the interest of the region.

The leaders stressed that the South-East would no longer dissipate its political strength by spreading votes across multiple parties, noting that such practices had historically undermined the region’s influence at the federal level. They also distanced the zone from political activities driven by personal ambition, declaring that narrow interests and ego-driven actions would no longer dictate the political direction of the region.

According to the communique, the endorsement followed extensive deliberations on national issues, regional challenges and the future role of Ndi Igbo in Nigeria’s political landscape. The leaders described the APC as the most viable platform for the South-East to achieve meaningful representation and development, citing alignment with the ruling party as a strategic necessity.

They pointed to what they described as the Tinubu administration’s transformative policies, infrastructural commitments to the South-East and inclusive governance, including the appointment of sons and daughters of the region to key national positions, as reasons for their decision.

The stakeholders insisted that all votes cast by Ndi Igbo in 2027, both within and outside the region, should be delivered en bloc to President Tinubu, regardless of individual ambitions. They expressed satisfaction with his leadership style, competence and focus on national unity, describing his continued leadership as vital to accelerated development in the South-East and Nigeria at large.

The meeting also reaffirmed strong support for the South-East governors, particularly the Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum and Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, alongside other governors in the region. The leaders praised them for their leadership and commitment to advancing the interests of Ndi Igbo.

To ensure success in 2027, the APC stakeholders resolved to intensify grassroots mobilisation, voter education, registration campaigns and party consolidation efforts across the region. Governors Peter Mbah of Enugu State and Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State were tasked with overseeing party mobilisation in Anambra State, while Governor Uzodimma retains oversight responsibilities in Imo State.

In their remarks, Governor Mbah described the endorsement as a pragmatic shift that positions the South-East to actively shape Nigeria’s political future, while Governor Nwifuru expressed confidence that all South-East governors would align with the APC by 2027. The meeting concluded with a call on Ndi Igbo worldwide to rally behind the APC in pursuit of a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.

According to him, the administration has already begun implementing reforms in the power sector, including policy decisions and new legislative measures aimed at improving electricity supply.

He maintained that progress is ongoing and that the focus should be on what has been achieved so far rather than expectations for future electoral outcomes.

Bwala added that Nigerians will ultimately decide at the appropriate time whether the president deserves another term based on his overall performance.

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has denied claims that he ordered the revocation of the licence of Rainbow Event Centre, which hosted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) national convention on February 14, 2026.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Wike said the party should stop blaming him for its internal issues, insisting that the ADC is already heading towards political failure on its own.

The ADC had alleged that FCT authorities denied it access to venues for its convention and attempted to stop the use of the Rainbow Event Centre before the event eventually held there.

Reacting, Wike said investigations have already been launched into the matter and directed his Chief of Staff to identify any staff member involved in the alleged interference.

He stated: “We will not allow people to just wake up and say the FCT Minister did this or that. I have told my Chief of Staff to find out from the company which staff member interfered. We will get to the bottom of this.”

Meanwhile, Wike also commented on former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s political ambitions, saying he would have to wait until 2031 to contest for the presidency.

He said there is “no space” for Atiku in 2027, adding that he could try again in 2031 when he would be 82 years old.

Wike made the remarks during an inspection of ongoing road projects in Kuje Area Council on Thursday, while also criticising Atiku’s repeated attacks on the current administration and insisting that President Bola Tinubu has performed better than previous leadership.
