Nataro Urges Tinubu To Reconcile With El-Rufai Ahead Of 2027 Elections.

Nataro argued that the ongoing political reshuffling in Northern Nigeria makes it crucial for Tinubu to focus on the North-West geopolitical zone, particularly following the removal of Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as APC national chairman, which he said weakened the zone’s influence within the party. He also cautioned that potential alliances involving former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), could pose challenges for Tinubu’s campaign.

He added that even if the incumbent Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, joins the APC, the North-West would still lack a unifying political figure capable of mobilising widespread support. Nataro described the rift between el-Rufai and Tinubu’s camp as fueled by envy and detractors, portraying the former Kaduna governor as a key political asset whose influence remains significant in the region.

While praising el-Rufai’s public service record, including his tenure as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, Nataro critiqued his reliance on foreign loans for urban renewal in Kaduna State, suggesting the funds could have been better spent on education, agriculture, or cottage industries.

He concluded that reintegrating el-Rufai into Tinubu’s political fold would strengthen the President’s prospects in the North-West, leveraging the former governor’s political reach and regional influence to galvanise support ahead of the elections.
