The senator described the reports as false and misleading, stressing that he remains a committed member of the PDP and has not joined any other political party. The clarification was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Ajiri Daniels.

The statement explained that Dickson’s recent low profile in political activities is due to a period of mourning following the death of the Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Dr Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. It noted that the senator deliberately stepped back from active political engagement as a mark of respect for the deceased.

During this period, Dickson has reportedly been receiving condolence visits from friends, political associates, and well-wishers from across the country, cutting across different political affiliations and backgrounds.

While affirming that the senator remains attentive to political developments nationwide, the statement said he intends to consult extensively with friends and allies after the burial before making any political decisions. It added that any such decisions would be communicated through appropriate and official channels.

The statement further maintained that Dickson remains a key figure within the PDP and expressed hope that the party would resolve its internal challenges in view of its historical role in Nigeria’s democratic evolution. The senator also urged party members, supporters, and the general public to disregard the defection rumours, describing them as fake news aimed at misleading Nigerians.
