Tinubu’s Aide Mocks Obi: ‘Their Master Changes Party Like Premier League Player’

According to Nivo News, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has dismissed the likelihood of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, securing the ticket of either the Labour Party or the African Democratic Congress ahead of the 2027 elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking on The Clarity Zone Podcast, Bwala argued that Obi has lost the political momentum that defined his 2023 campaign, noting that his influence within the Labour Party and broader opposition coalitions has significantly declined. He questioned Obi’s organisational and leadership capacity, suggesting that the former presidential hopeful lacks the ability to anchor any coalition movement or emerge as a viable presidential or vice-presidential candidate.

Bwala highlighted Obi’s diminishing support, pointing to his loss of legislative allies and the failure of candidates he endorsed in several states during the 2023 elections. He stated, “After the election, he lost everybody he was leading. He had members in the House of Representatives. How many are there in the National Assembly? The only governor he had… is the governor with him or with us? I have not seen one that identifies with him at the moment.”

The aide also criticised Obi’s social media supporters, accusing them of intolerance and hypocrisy. He said, “The army of Trojans that he has on social media attack people and accuse them of changing parties. But when you point out that their master has been changing parties like a Premier League player moves clubs, they do not like it.”

Bwala recounted Obi’s political journey as inconsistent, noting his movement from the PDP to APGA, back to PDP, and then to Labour. He added that Obi is currently navigating between the Labour Party and ADC, describing it as being “between the devil and the deep blue sea.”

He concluded that Obi is unlikely to secure the presidential or vice-presidential nomination from either party. “He will not be the presidential candidate, he will not be the vice-presidential candidate. Peter Obi is going to run on a platform other than Labour and other than ADC,” Bwala asserted.

Reflecting on Obi’s 2023 performance, where he received over six million votes and finished third, Bwala argued that the support Obi enjoyed was driven by a temporary movement rather than a deep political structure. He described Obi’s appeal as circumstantial, adding that replicating the 2023 feat in future elections would be challenging.

Deregistration Drama: Courtroom Showdown Over ADC And Accord Party Hits A New Delay!.

Published

  • Case Adjournment: The Court of Appeal in Abuja has postponed the hearing of an appeal regarding the potential deregistration of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Accord Party, and three other political parties until July 7.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

    • Procedural Delay: The court moved the hearing date from June 25 to allow the involved parties sufficient time to file and exchange their briefs of argument.

    • Reasoning for New Date: Although Accord Party counsel, Musibau Adetunbi (SAN), requested a three-day window to file, Justice Abubakar Mohammed explained that the panel’s upcoming official commitments necessitated selecting July 7 as the earliest available date.

    • Background of the Dispute: The appeal follows a Federal High Court ruling by Justice Peter Lifu, which ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC, Accord Party, Action Peoples Party (APP), Action Alliance (AA), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) for allegedly failing to meet constitutional performance benchmarks.

    • INEC’s Position: INEC has challenged this deregistration order, arguing that these parties met the necessary constitutional thresholds by securing elective positions in previous elections and providing certificates of return as evidence.

    • Stay of Execution: On June 16, the Court of Appeal previously ordered a stay of execution on the Federal High Court’s judgment, preventing INEC from proceeding with the deregistration until the current appeal is decided.

    • Procedural Criticism: The appellate court had previously criticized Justice Lifu for ignoring an earlier order to suspend proceedings, noting that such an action undermined the established hierarchy of the courts.

    • Origin of the Suit: The original legal challenge was filed by the National Forum of Former Legislators, who argued that these specific parties failed to meet the electoral performance standards required by the 1999 Constitution and the 2022 Electoral Act.
