According to Nivo News, Champion Breweries Plc has successfully completed its inaugural ₦30 billion 5-year Fixed Rate Senior Unsecured Bond issuance at a coupon rate of 19.50%, under its ₦45 billion Bond Issuance Programme. Despite being launched amid a volatile interest rate environment, the bond attracted strong demand from a wide range of institutional investors, including Pension Fund Administrators, Asset Managers, Trustees, banks, registrars, and high-net-worth individuals, underscoring confidence in the company’s creditworthiness and long-term growth strategy. Proceeds from the bond will be allocated to enhancing operational efficiency, modernizing production infrastructure, and supporting long-term value creation for stakeholders.

Chairman of Champion Breweries, Mr. Imo-Abasi Jacob, described the bond issuance as “more than a financing milestone; it is a statement of intent,” emphasizing the company’s resilient business model and strong governance. CEO Dr. Inalegwu Adoga highlighted that the capital raised would be deployed to drive operational efficiency and consolidate the company’s leadership in Nigeria’s beverage market.

Rand Merchant Bank Nigeria Limited (RMB Nigeria) acted as Lead Issuing House and Bookrunner for the bond, with Executive Director Chidi Iwuchukwu noting the transaction as a significant milestone for both the company and the breweries sub-sector, reflecting the depth and sophistication of Nigeria’s debt capital markets.
