In a statement on behalf of the forum, its chairman and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the market attack as a brutal assault on innocent civilians and a serious threat to peace and economic activity in the region. He highlighted that the incident, which reportedly left dozens dead, underscores the persistent security challenges facing northern states and called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend those responsible.

The governors extended condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the safe recovery of individuals reportedly abducted during the attack.

The forum also mourned the victims of the Yobe boat mishap, which resulted in at least 25 fatalities with several others still missing. The governors described the tragedy as heartbreaking and stressed the need for improved safety measures in water transportation to prevent similar accidents. They urged authorities to review and enforce safety protocols, especially in riverine communities.
