‘Be Very Careful’ — Wike Issues Stern Warning To APC National Secretary
According to Nivo News, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Senator Ajibola Basiru, cautioning him to steer clear of Rivers State politics.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The warning follows recent comments by Basiru, who publicly criticised the APC’s South-South Vice Chairman, Victor Giadom, over remarks in which Giadom referred to Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as a “so-called governor” during a political visit to the state.
In a social media post, Basiru condemned the language used by Giadom, describing it as disrespectful to the office of a sitting governor and inappropriate for a party official occupying a sensitive position. He stressed that elected offices must be accorded due respect, regardless of political alignments or internal disagreements.
Basiru further stated that such comments undermine party discipline and should not be encouraged under any circumstance, noting that holders of high party offices are expected to act with restraint and responsibility.
Reacting strongly to Basiru’s remarks, Wike delivered a fiery response during a political rally in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State. He accused the APC secretary of making reckless statements and warned him not to take the support of Rivers political actors for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granted.
Wike cautioned Basiru to be mindful of his utterances, stating that Rivers State was not a platform for political interference. He warned that anyone who ventures into the state’s political affairs without restraint should be prepared to face the consequences of their actions.
The minister further declared that Rivers State was a no-go area for political intimidation, adding that he would personally raise the matter with senior government officials if the comments continued. He maintained that while political differences may exist, external interference in Rivers politics would not be tolerated.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
