Wike highlighted Rivers’ ability to mobilize support across party lines for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a strategy he described as the “Rainbow Coalition.” He made the remarks during a thank-you visit to Ahoada West Local Government Area, emphasizing that political engagement in Rivers now prioritizes unity, shared interests, and collective commitment over strict party loyalty.
The minister encouraged political actors in other states to adopt the Rivers model, describing it as inclusive, people-driven, and capable of securing decisive electoral victories. He attributed the state’s political resilience to a culture of cooperation, consensus-building, and mutual respect that has helped Rivers withstand attempts to undermine its political structure.
Wike expressed confidence that ahead of the 2027 elections, stakeholders would unite on a common platform, stressing that electoral success depends on cohesion and collective effort. He warned against complacency, recalling past political missteps, and urged firmness, clarity, and forward-thinking in decision-making.
The minister also praised Rivers residents for their support of President Tinubu, calling it a patriotic choice that defied skepticism. Speaking on his FCT ministerial appointment, Wike linked his role to the values, resilience, and contributions of the Rivers people, noting that ongoing infrastructural projects in Abuja reflect the state’s work ethic and commitment to national development.
