APC Clears Air: Only Tinubu Can Decide Fubara’s Political Future.
According to Nivo News, the Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has clarified that the decision on Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s political future and possible re-election bid lies solely with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party’s national leadership.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The party’s position was made known by its Rivers State Publicity Secretary, Chibike Ikenga, who explained that Fubara’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC was sanctioned at the highest level of the party. He stressed that because the move was approved by the President, who also serves as the leader of the APC, the final say on Fubara’s fate remains with the national leadership.
Ikenga noted that once directives are issued from the party’s top hierarchy, the state chapter would fully align and act accordingly. He added that the leadership understands what is appropriate for the governor and will determine the next steps in due course.
Addressing the role of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, Ikenga acknowledged that Wike was instrumental in Fubara’s emergence as governor but maintained that political disagreements are not unusual and are currently being managed by party leaders.
He further dismissed suggestions that Wike could influence the APC’s choice of governorship candidate in Rivers State, pointing out that the minister is not a member of the party and is not in the race for the governorship.
According to Ikenga, speculation about Wike’s influence is misplaced, as the authority to decide the party’s direction in Rivers rests strictly with President Tinubu and the APC’s national leadership.
