We’ve Made Our Decision – Wike Vows to Block Fubara’s Second Term.
According to Nivo News, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that allowing Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to secure a second term would amount to political self-destruction for him and his allies.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the assertion on Saturday while addressing stakeholders during a meeting in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, where he openly criticised the governor amid growing political tension in the state. The minister accused Fubara of violating the peace agreement that was reached before the suspension of emergency rule in Rivers, an arrangement that enabled the governor’s return to office.
He revealed that a firm decision had already been taken in consultation with President Bola Tinubu regarding Fubara’s second-term ambition, stressing that repeating what he described as a past political mistake would have severe consequences.
According to Wike, endorsing Fubara again would amount to burying their political future, adding that he would not allow himself or his political family to make such an error a second time. He emphasised that the position had been clearly resolved and should leave no room for doubt.
Amid the unfolding crisis, the Rivers Ijaw Peoples Congress announced a shift in allegiance away from Governor Fubara in favour of Wike. The chairman of the group, Senator George Sekibo, disclosed the decision during Wike’s “thank you” visit to Okrika, citing the minister’s long-standing contributions to the Ijaw people.
Sekibo described the rift between Wike and Fubara as deeply regrettable but insisted that the Ijaw people could not be labelled ungrateful, recalling how Wike played a decisive role in supporting Fubara’s emergence as governor of Rivers State.
