In a statement issued on Tuesday, Tinubu described Sani as “my younger brother and friend in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria,” emphasizing that his political journey has been guided by conviction rather than personal gain. The President noted that Sani’s early activism during military rule exemplified courage, commitment to justice, and national unity.

“Governor Sani’s life and achievements offer invaluable lessons, particularly for younger generations,” Tinubu said, recalling Sani’s contributions as a student leader and pro-democracy activist who chose principle over fear. The President further observed that Sani’s experience in the 9th National Assembly reflected his reformist approach, citing his instrumental role in the Banks and Other Financial Institutions Act (BOFIA) 2020, which strengthened financial stability and promoted fintech growth.

Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, Sani has been recognized for his inclusive governance model, which has fostered unity across ethnic and religious communities in Kaduna State. Tinubu noted the remarkable security improvements in Birnin Gwari, where agricultural activity has resumed, attributing the progress to the governor’s engagement with traditional rulers, religious leaders, and local communities.

The President also praised Sani’s contributions to infrastructure development, healthcare, industrialisation, and agriculture, emphasizing his commitment to equitable development. Tinubu described the governor as a trusted ally of the Federal Government and an active supporter of the Renewed Hope Agenda, lauding his dedication to delivering tangible benefits to the people.

“As Governor Uba Sani marks this milestone, I join his family, friends, and the people of Kaduna State in wishing him continued health, strength, and wisdom to advance his selfless service to the nation,” Tinubu said.
