Nigeria dominated large spells of the encounter, with Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi and Ademola Lookman all finding the back of the net to put the Super Eagles in a commanding position before a late resurgence from Tunisia set up a dramatic finale. The victory gives Nigeria maximum points from their opening two matches and guarantees qualification with one game left in the group.
Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 44th minute, showing sharp awareness in the penalty area to finish off a delivery from Lookman just before halftime. The goal boosted Nigeria’s confidence and set the tone for a strong second-half display.
Shortly after the restart, Ndidi extended the lead with a powerful header from a well-delivered cross, marking his first goal in Super Eagles colours. Tunisia continued to struggle against Nigeria’s intensity and organisation.
The pressure paid off again in the 67th minute when Lookman completed a flowing attacking move, calmly converting an assist from Osimhen to make it 3-0 and seemingly put the contest beyond reach.
Tunisia responded with determination, pulling one goal back through Montassar Talbi in the 74th minute before Ali Abdi converted a late penalty in the 87th minute to narrow the deficit. However, the Super Eagles remained composed in the closing stages to see out the match.
The result keeps Nigeria top of Group C with six points, while Tunisia sit second on three points, with Tanzania and Uganda yet to make a significant impact. Nigeria will now face Uganda in their final group game with confidence, while Tunisia must secure a positive result against Tanzania to boost their qualification hopes.
