The Katsina State Police Command has arrested 20 individuals in connection with alleged rape and other criminal activities as part of ongoing efforts to curb crime in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu, disclosed the development during a press briefing at the Command Headquarters in Katsina, presented by Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu.

Police officials revealed that a total of 123 cases were reported during the period under review. Of these, 108 cases have been prosecuted in court, while 15 are still under investigation. The suspects arrested for sexual offences were among several individuals apprehended during a broader crackdown on crime across Katsina State.

Additional arrests included 22 suspects for armed robbery, seven for culpable homicide, four for dealing in counterfeit currency, and 10 for possession of illegal drugs. The police also recovered multiple dangerous items, including three AK-47 rifles, over 200 rounds of ammunition, four vehicles, 32 suspected stolen animals, large quantities of illegal drugs, and vandalised electricity cables.

DSP Aliyu emphasized that the arrests, particularly those related to sexual offences, demonstrate the police’s dedication to safeguarding the rights and safety of women, children, and other vulnerable members of the community.
