Abdul-Ganiyu, who had been overseeing the affairs of the council in an acting capacity, was formally inaugurated to take full charge of the local government’s administration following recent leadership changes.

His confirmation comes after the resignation of the former chairman, Tunde Azeez, who had been absent from active duty due to prolonged medical challenges since the inauguration of the current local government administration.

During plenary proceedings, the Leader of the House, Adeshina Haruna, read Azeez’s resignation letter, in which he explained that persistent health issues had made it increasingly difficult for him to effectively perform his responsibilities.

At the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu advised the newly inaugurated chairman to prioritize grassroots development and ensure that his leadership remains consistent with the policies and developmental agenda of the Lagos State Government.

The governor further tasked Abdul-Ganiyu with delivering tangible democratic dividends to residents of Agege, urging him to justify the trust and confidence placed in him through responsive and people-centered governance.
