Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has dismissed reports suggesting the presence of a terrorist group in his domain, cautioning against the circulation of false narratives about the town.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Monday and signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the monarch responded to claims that a religious terrorist group, Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen, was allegedly attempting to weaken Iwo’s security by undermining the Jaysu Security Network.

Oba Akanbi described the media reports as “false and unfounded,” emphasizing that Iwo remains one of the most peaceful towns in the South-West. He noted that security operatives work closely with the police to apprehend hardened criminals and warned that individuals spreading misinformation about his community would face legal consequences.

“The media reports alleging the existence of a terrorist group in Iwo are false. Iwo remains a peaceful town, thanks to the activities of the Jaysu Security Network, an affiliate of Jama’atu Ta’awunil Muslimeen under the leadership of Sheik Dahood Imran Molaasan,” the Oluwo stated.

He praised Imran Molaasan as an international asset and educational philanthropist, highlighting that the group has established over 40 schools in Iwo, including the College of Education and orphanages, and has been active for more than 20 years. “I do not understand how contributing to national security and academic development could be misconstrued as terrorism. No terrorist can penetrate Iwo; the town is peaceful,” he said.

The monarch further explained that Jaysu Security Network supports the police in arresting criminals and maintaining public safety. He noted that Iwo is a town free from movement restrictions, ritual sacrifices, or other forms of intimidation, adding that attempts to spread such practices would be swiftly curtailed by security operatives.

Oba Akanbi concluded by condemning those peddling false stories on social media, referring to them as “social media terrorists and bandits,” and assured that appropriate measures would be taken against individuals inciting unnecessary fear and tension.
