The final group of 115 students was released on Sunday, raising the total number of freed children to about 265 and marking a major breakthrough in the rescue operation. The development has sparked widespread relief and celebration among parents, guardians, and the affected community.

The abduction occurred in the early hours of November 21, 2025, when armed assailants stormed the boarding school and carted away 303 students alongside 12 teachers, an incident described as one of the largest mass kidnappings in Nigeria’s recent history.

Following the attack, 50 students reportedly escaped on their own shortly after the incident, while another 100 were released on December 8 after intensified security operations and negotiations.

The successful release of the remaining students has been commended by security agencies, who described the operation as a significant achievement, while families of the victims expressed gratitude and relief over the safe return of their children.
