Moro made the statement on Wednesday during a consultative meeting with the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) led by Kabiru Turaki. Amid a period marked by multiple defections from the opposition party, Moro insisted that he and other committed members would remain steadfast despite political pressures.

“I want to inform you, Mr Chairman, that many of us here are neither poor nor desperate politicians. We are in PDP to stay. We are not in PDP merely to contest elections, nor are we solely focused on the 2027 elections. No form of intimidation will push us out,” Moro declared.

He described the PDP as the only credible platform for democratic governance in Nigeria and urged the newly elected NWC to collaborate with party leaders to strengthen cohesion and unity. “The national convention has come and gone. The responsibility now falls on us, especially on you and the NWC, to salvage the situation. Yours is a very herculean task,” he added.

In response, Kabiru Turaki stated that the party is actively repositioning itself ahead of upcoming political contests. “Our goal is to protect the country from anti‑democratic forces and safeguard our multiparty democracy. The 2027 elections are about Nigerians, not defections,” he said, commending Moro and other PDP senators for their principled stance, describing them as “pillars of the party.”

Adolphus Wabara, chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, lauded the successful national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, and expressed full support for the Turaki‑led NWC. “From the early days of their tenure, the party is being repositioned, structures are being strengthened, and confidence is being restored nationwide,” Wabara said. He emphasised the need for unity, reconciliation, and collective rebuilding within the party.
