According to a statement from the governor’s office, this initiative reflects a determined effort to prevent criminals from exploiting Kano as a hideout, particularly at major entry and exit points within the city. Motor parks were identified as high-risk zones due to heavy human traffic and recent security incidents, including the apprehension of suspected criminals at the Kofar Ruwa Motor Park.
The newly formed task force is tasked with intensive surveillance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated security operations at motor parks and other vulnerable locations. Its mandate will also extend to ancillary areas such as filling stations and public spaces where transient populations frequently gather.
Governor Yusuf emphasized that the measure is preventive, designed to stop potential security threats before they escalate. He highlighted that the initiative will enhance cooperation among security agencies and restore public confidence. The governor reaffirmed his administration’s zero-tolerance policy for crime and assured that the government would continue to support security agencies in protecting lives and property across Kano State.
