President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called for unity and consensus among All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Osun State ahead of the party’s primary election scheduled for December 13. According to Nivo News, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the meeting in a statement on Wednesday. The Osun State aspirants present included former Deputy Governor Benedict Olugboyega Alabi, Dotun Babayemi, Akin Ogunbiyi, Senator Babajide Omoworare, Kunle Adegoke (SAN), Babatunde Hareter Oralusi, Mulikat Abiola Jimoh, and Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji.

The gathering also featured the National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume; the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum, Hope Uzodinma; and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola.

President Tinubu commended the aspirants for their contributions to the party in Osun State and emphasized the need for cohesion to prevent the internal disputes that led to the party’s defeat in the last election. He urged the aspirants to support the consensus candidate chosen by the party, stressing that party supremacy should guide the selection process. “You all have a duty and obligation to the party by ensuring the candidate of our party wins the next election in Osun State. Strengthen the bonds of unity, party supremacy, and collective responsibility. You have my support and that of the National leadership of APC to secure victory,” Tinubu said.

Following the meeting, all participants issued a joint statement affirming their commitment to uphold the party’s supremacy, abide by the nomination process, and support the consensus candidate. The decision, which took effect on April 23, 2026, was contained in an official notice issued by the organisation’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Augustine Nkeonye.

In the statement, the Army confirmed that Oguwike no longer holds any position within the company.

It stated that the public should take note that he has ceased to serve as Company Secretary and is no longer affiliated with the organisation in any capacity.
