Major General Abubakar Honours Top Officers Amid Ongoing Fight Against Insurgency.

The event, attended by serving and retired military officials, heads of security agencies, family members, and well-wishers, highlighted a milestone in Nigeria’s ongoing fight against insurgency in the North-East.
Major General Abubakar described the promotions as recognition of the officers’ professionalism, dedication, and loyalty to the nation. He praised their contributions, noting, “This promotion is a recognition of your competence, unwavering commitment, and the critical roles you’ve played in service to the nation.”
He emphasized that Operation Hadin Kai remains the largest combat theatre in sub-Saharan Africa and commended the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, for approving the advancement. “These officers are the engine room of OPHK. Their elevation is well-deserved,” Abubakar said, urging the generals to uphold the Constitution, lead by example, and maintain the highest standards of professionalism. In his remarks, Deputy Theatre Commander Air Vice Marshal Essen Efanga lauded the officers’ resilience, calling their promotion a “major milestone” and emphasizing the new responsibilities that come with higher rank. “You are now not just implementers but policy-makers. The five officers elevated to Brigadier General are Ikechukwu Ogundele, Abubakar Sale, Suleiman Muhammed, Abdullafeef Idris, and Yusuf Kawu. The ceremony included the official decoration, speeches, light entertainment, and group photographs.
