Ex-Aviation Minister Stella Oduah Faces ₦2.4 Billion Fraud Trial In Abuja.
The Federal Government has arraigned former Aviation Minister, Princess Stella Adaeze Oduah, alongside Gloria Odita, at the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Maitama, Abuja, over alleged fraud, obtaining money by false pretence, and criminal breach of trust.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, the charges allege that in January 2014, Oduah and Odita conspired to illegally secure a total of ₦2.469 billion from the Federal Ministry of Aviation through Broad Waters Resources Nigeria Ltd and Global Offshore Marine Ltd under fraudulent claims.
The prosecution outlined that the defendants presented the funds as payments for “Cost of Technical Supervision” and “Security Integrated and Logistics Support Services,” which were falsely represented. These allegations fall under Sections 8(a) and 1(1)(a) of the Advance Fee Fraud Act.
Specifically, the first charge claims the defendants sought ₦839.78 million on January 13, 2014, for “Cost of Technical Supervision,” while the second charge alleges that on February 12, 2014, they obtained ₦1.629 billion under the guise of “Security Integrated and Logistics Support Services.”
Further charges accuse Oduah, in her ministerial role, of misappropriating funds allocated for a contract with 1-Sec Security Nigeria Ltd by authorizing transfers that violated her official trust, in breach of Sections 311 and 315 of the Penal Code.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to all five counts when the charges were read in court. Their legal representatives, Chief Onyechi Ikpeazu, SAN, for Oduah, and Wale Balogun, SAN, for Odita, applied for bail. Ikpeazu argued that Oduah voluntarily returned from the United States to comply with court directives and had previously been on administrative bail with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, representing the prosecution, did not oppose bail but urged the court to set a firm trial date, noting that the defendants had been served with the charges since November 27, 2025.
Justice Hamza Muazu granted bail on self-recognition, ordering both defendants to deposit their international passports with the court.
