Oyetola Denies Allegations Of Manipulating APC Governorship Screening In Osun.

The former governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, has dismissed allegations that he interfered in the screening process that resulted in the disqualification of several governorship aspirants ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The controversy emerged after Senator Iyiola Omisore accused Oyetola of manipulating the exercise to favour Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, one of the aspirants who passed the screening. Omisore claimed that the APC panel chairman informed them that Oyetola had allegedly instructed the disqualification of certain aspirants to benefit Oyebamiji.

The disqualified aspirants include Omisore, former Deputy Governor Benedict Alabi, former presidential aide Babajide Omoworare, Senior Advocate of Nigeria Kunle Adegoke, businessman Dotun Babayemi, insurance expert Akin Ogunbiyi, and Babatunde Oralusi. The APC Screening Committee cited inconsistencies and gaps in their nomination documents as the reason for their disqualification.

Responding to the allegations, Bolaji Akinola, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, described the claims as “baseless, misleading, and totally false.” He emphasized that Oyetola had no involvement in the decisions of the Screening Committee or the Screening Appeal Panel, which operate independently under the APC Constitution.

Akinola reiterated that Oyetola has consistently upheld fairness, transparency, and due process throughout his political career and urged aggrieved aspirants to seek resolution through the party’s internal mechanisms. He also called for calm among party stakeholders, affirming Oyetola’s commitment to the unity of the APC in Osun and the welfare of the state’s residents.
