The crusade, which drew residents and youths of Agboda Village, was abruptly halted after a group of suspected herdsmen approached the venue, triggering immediate alarm among participants. Dr. Daniel Ukpo, the organiser of the crusade, told reporters that the incident occurred between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. when participants were gathered. He noted that residents have repeatedly reported fear of attacks and destruction of crops, citing inadequate security presence. He also added that prior religious gatherings in the area have been disrupted by armed individuals believed to be herders.
