A member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Alhaji Fasiu Bakene, has endorsed the expulsion of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike; former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose; and the party’s former National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, describing the decision as a long overdue step to restore discipline within the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, Bakene faulted the expelled leaders for consistently undermining the PDP despite rising to national prominence through the platform. He argued that their conduct, utterances, and repeated violation of the party’s constitution had weakened the organisation for years.

Speaking in Abeokuta on Tuesday, November 18, Bakene said the affected individuals had “enjoyed demarketing the party,” insisting that their removal would help rebuild confidence and order among members. He added that instead of formally switching allegiance to another political party, they chose to remain in the PDP while openly campaigning for rival interests.

Governance Hijacked: Endless Politics, Zero Economic Vision!

Bakene expressed optimism that the internal disputes plaguing the opposition party would soon be resolved, despite a string of recent defections. The former Ogun State lawmaker maintained that disagreements were not peculiar to the PDP and could be settled amicably, especially under the leadership of the newly elected national chairman.

He commended the organisers of the recent national convention, describing it as a peaceful and well-coordinated exercise that drew a massive turnout of delegates and reaffirmed the party’s internal cohesion. Bakene praised the various sub-committees involved—transportation, protocol, accommodation, publicity, logistics, and others—for delivering what he called a “perfect job.”

Bakene also applauded the emergence of former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Turaki, as the new national chairman, noting that his administrative experience and political capacity would help reposition the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections. He expressed confidence that Turaki’s leadership would steer the party toward electoral success.

Despite its current challenges, Bakene said the PDP remained capable of stabilising itself and reclaiming its place as a formidable opposition force before the next general polls.

Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong has shared a deeply emotional story about a difficult period in his family’s history.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He recounted how his father narrowly escaped death after being implicated in an alleged coup during Nigeria’s military era.

Speaking in an interview, the actor explained that the incident occurred while he was still an infant. His father, Colonel Moses Effiong, was arrested after being linked to a plot reportedly aimed at removing former Head of State Ibrahim Babangida from power.

According to him, the situation began when his father was informed of the alleged plan by a close colleague in the military. This left him in a tough position—whether to keep silent or report the information. However, when the plot was eventually uncovered, the colleague was arrested and later mentioned Colonel Effiong during interrogation.

This led to his father’s arrest and subsequent trial, where he was convicted and handed a death sentence by firing squad.

Daniel revealed that in a dramatic twist, his father was spared on the day the execution was meant to take place, surviving what appeared to be a certain fate.

He added that the experience left a lasting impact on their family, shaping much of his early life as they lived with the memory of that traumatic period.
