“I Saw People Killed Before My Eyes” — Ashimolowo Decries Rising Christian Genocide.

Published

on

According to Nivo News, the founder of Kingsway International Christian Centre, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, has described Nigeria’s worsening insecurity as a “five-headed snake,” questioning why the Federal Government has been unable to end terrorism after more than 15 years. He expressed deep concern while addressing journalists ahead of his upcoming Chris Compassion to the Rural World crusade.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Ashimolowo said patterns of what he described as targeted attacks and alleged genocide against Christians remain evident across several parts of the country. He explained that his perspective is shaped not just by reports but by personal experience, recalling his upbringing in Zaria, Kaduna State.

He narrated how he witnessed the Zaria riots in his youth, saying people were killed solely because they were Igbo. He recounted watching innocent victims dragged from their homes, attacked, and murdered, while soldiers attempted to stop the violence. He said the events he saw firsthand amounted to genocide, as the killings were systematic and targeted.

The cleric highlighted longstanding crises in Southern Kaduna, alleging that communities were violently attacked because of disputes over land ownership and religious differences. He referenced the killing of Deborah Samuel, who was murdered after cautioning peers that their school platform was meant for academic discussion. He added that several lawyers defended those accused of her killing, a development he found troubling.

Ashimolowo also recalled the brutal murder of Evangelist Eunice in Abuja, insisting that such repeated patterns of attacks reflect deeper problems. He echoed late Dr. Obadiah Mailafia’s claims that security operatives often failed to provide timely protection, only arriving after attackers had fled. Referring to earlier allegations of “mysterious helicopters” supplying arms to terrorists, he questioned whether such incidents did not suggest a coordinated plan of extermination.

He further condemned the continuous assaults on Christian communities in the North, citing a song aired on northern radio which claimed the entire country belonged to Shehu Usman Dan Fodio. He suggested that certain interests were opposed to conversations that confront the reality of the situation.

On the persistent kidnappings of schoolgirls, Ashimolowo lamented that victims were subjected to severe abuse, including trafficking, forced conversion, rape, and murder, while the nation was repeatedly told their abductors had been pardoned. He questioned who granted such forgiveness and under what legal authority. He added that rumours of some perpetrators being absorbed into the military were deeply disturbing, insisting that individuals responsible for such violence should never be entrusted with defending the nation.

Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has called on leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to view Thursday’s Supreme Court judgment as a chance to foster reconciliation within the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Saraki made his appeal in a statement issued on Saturday through his media office and signed by Yusuph Olaniyonu.

He urged party stakeholders to immediately begin efforts aimed at reconciliation and rebuilding, following months of internal disputes.

According to him, the Supreme Court ruling—which nullified the Ibadan convention—validated his earlier position that an interim leadership arrangement would have helped avoid prolonged conflict within the party.

Saraki stated that the national convention in Ibadan should not have taken place, insisting that his earlier warnings were meant to prevent internal crisis and division.

He added that he had previously presented this view to key stakeholders, including a committee of elders led by Ambassador Hassan Adamu, when consulted on the matter.

Reacting to the court’s decision, Saraki emphasized unity within the PDP, saying, “There is now only one PDP, and we should all unite and work for the success of our party across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

He stressed that attention should shift away from blame and legal disputes towards rebuilding the party, adding that those who lost in court should see their return as an opportunity to strengthen the PDP.

Saraki further noted that the ruling had clarified the party’s leadership structure, affirming the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara as the legitimate leadership, both legally and in the eyes of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He called on members involved in prolonged court cases to return to the party and contribute to its rebuilding, urging them to focus on the bigger picture.

“Once again, I call on our colleagues who have been in court for several months to retrace their steps. We should all try to see the bigger picture,” he said, describing the PDP as a viable platform for the 2027 elections.

Saraki also congratulated the National Working Committee and encouraged them to uphold unity, discipline, respect for the rule of law, and democratic values as the party prepares for the next general elections.

reports that the declaration was made on Saturday at the Bauchi Government House during an event that followed a closed-door meeting with key political stakeholders in the state. The gathering was attended by the National Chairman of the Allied Peoples Movement, Yusuf Dantalle, who witnessed the governor’s announcement.

Before his departure, Bala Mohammed served as the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, a role that placed him at the centre of coordination among governors elected on the PDP platform nationwide.

His defection was also reportedly accompanied by supporters aligned with the Tanimu Turaki-led faction within the PDP structure in Bauchi State.

Although details of the closed-door meeting were not disclosed, it was said to have involved prominent political figures in the state.

In a related development, Bala Mohammed ruled out a presidential ambition, noting that the PDP had already zoned the presidency to the South in the interest of fairness.

He, however, said he would contest the Bauchi South senatorial seat instead.

“I am not contesting for the presidency. At the party level, we agreed to zone it to the South out of fairness.

“However, based on calls from my people, I will contest the Bauchi South senatorial seat to continue representing them and support our candidates,” he said.
