reports that Saraki made his appeal in a statement issued on Saturday through his media office and signed by Yusuph Olaniyonu.

He urged party stakeholders to immediately begin efforts aimed at reconciliation and rebuilding, following months of internal disputes.

According to him, the Supreme Court ruling—which nullified the Ibadan convention—validated his earlier position that an interim leadership arrangement would have helped avoid prolonged conflict within the party.

Saraki stated that the national convention in Ibadan should not have taken place, insisting that his earlier warnings were meant to prevent internal crisis and division.

He added that he had previously presented this view to key stakeholders, including a committee of elders led by Ambassador Hassan Adamu, when consulted on the matter.

Reacting to the court’s decision, Saraki emphasized unity within the PDP, saying, “There is now only one PDP, and we should all unite and work for the success of our party across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”

He stressed that attention should shift away from blame and legal disputes towards rebuilding the party, adding that those who lost in court should see their return as an opportunity to strengthen the PDP.

Saraki further noted that the ruling had clarified the party’s leadership structure, affirming the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed Takushara as the legitimate leadership, both legally and in the eyes of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He called on members involved in prolonged court cases to return to the party and contribute to its rebuilding, urging them to focus on the bigger picture.

“Once again, I call on our colleagues who have been in court for several months to retrace their steps. We should all try to see the bigger picture,” he said, describing the PDP as a viable platform for the 2027 elections.

Saraki also congratulated the National Working Committee and encouraged them to uphold unity, discipline, respect for the rule of law, and democratic values as the party prepares for the next general elections.

Hands Off Our Police! Senate Leader Issues Explosive Warning To Shield State Force From Governors And Cabals!.

Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has emphasized that any proposed state police services must possess guaranteed financial independence to protect them from potential manipulation by governors, political actors, criminal elements, and other powerful interests. Bamidele, who is also the Vice-Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, proposed that funding for these services should be placed on a first-line charge as part of the ongoing constitutional amendment process.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Key aspects of Bamidele’s proposal and the National Assembly’s approach include:

  • Addressing Stakeholder Concerns: Bamidele acknowledged that fears regarding the potential abuse of state police by influential individuals are legitimate and well-founded, noting that these concerns are partially rooted in Nigeria’s experience with regional police control during the First Republic.

  • Multi-layered Safeguards: The National Assembly is working to develop a system of checks and safeguards designed to ensure professional discipline, institutional independence, and financial autonomy.

  • Judiciary-Style Funding: To prevent police chiefs from being subject to the “whims and caprices” of state governors, Bamidele suggested a funding model similar to that of the judiciary, which is protected under the Constitution and does not require routine executive approval.

  • Constitutional Guarantees: Bamidele stated that the 1999 Constitution should provide guaranteed funding sources for both State Commissioners of Police and State Police Service Commissions.

  • Continued Engagement: The National Assembly intends to maintain stakeholder engagement throughout the constitutional amendment process required to establish state police services across the country.
