Presidency Fires Back: “COP30 Delegates Not Sponsored By Government”.
The Presidency has reacted to public criticism surrounding the size of Nigeria’s delegation to the COP30 climate summit. Former presidential candidate Peter Obi had questioned what he described as a troubling misplacement of priorities after the government reportedly sent a 749-member contingent to the global event.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to Nivo News, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, clarified that climate negotiations involve broad thematic areas such as energy, finance, environment, transportation, agriculture and national security, making it necessary for various ministries and agencies to be represented.
Ajayi explained that the multi-faceted nature of climate discussions requires specialists from diverse government institutions to ensure Nigeria’s interests are adequately protected. He maintained that limiting participation could weaken the country’s negotiation strength.
He further stated that the majority of attendees at global climate conferences are non-state actors—including civil society groups, activists and private sector representatives—who are registered under their countries of origin, even though they are not funded by the government.
Ajayi noted that individuals from environmental organisations, as well as Nigerian professionals based abroad, may participate independently, but their attendance is still recorded under Nigeria for administrative purposes. He stressed that this does not imply government sponsorship.
He added that leading figures in the private sector, including top business executives in the energy industry, also attend such summits on their own accord. Ajayi questioned whether the presence of renowned entrepreneurs like Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu or Kola Adesina should be interpreted as government-funded participation, insisting that such assumptions are inaccurate.

“Wike: Tinubu Rejects FCT Minister Who Just Sits In Office!”
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Wednesday stated that President Bola Tinubu expects an FCT minister who engages with residents and not one who simply remains in the office.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Wike made the remarks during his Thank You Visit to stakeholders in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), appreciating them for supporting President Tinubu’s candidates in the February 21 Area Council elections.
He also advised FCT residents not to be misled by politicians seeking votes.
“Never again should we allow politicians to deceive us. Never again should we sit idly while they tell us stories, take our votes, and then disappear. Agreements must be honored,” Wike said.
He added, “One of the president’s directives is that he does not want an FCT minister who cannot interact with the people. He wants someone who listens to residents and understands their needs—not someone who sits in their office without knowing what the people want.
“I visited Apo and promised that if you supported us, I would return to say thank you. Today, we are here to fulfill that promise,” he concluded.

“‘He Will Outlive You Like Trump!’ – Obidient Movement Warns Threats Against Peter Obi”.
The Obidient Movement North Central has issued a stern warning to anyone attacking or threatening the life of former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The movement cautioned that, similar to former U.S. President Donald Trump, Obi will outlive those plotting against him.
This message was conveyed in a statement titled “Warning to Those Attacking or Threatening Peter Obi,” shared with DAILY POST on Wednesday by the National Coordinator of the Movement, Yunusa Tanko.
The statement urged Obi’s detractors to reconsider their actions and warned of the grave consequences their threats could have for Nigeria.
It reads in part: “We have taken time to investigate the events in Edo State, including what led to them, those responsible, their threats, and potential next moves. That is why we did not issue an immediate statement.
“Now, with a clear understanding of what happened, we, the Obidient Movement of the North Central Zone, issue this warning to those attempting to turn Nigeria into another Somalia by provoking millions of peace-loving Obidient Movement members worldwide through threats or attacks against our principal, H.E. Mr. Peter Gregory Obi.
“Let it be known that just as Trump survived every attack during his campaigns, won the presidency in a historic landslide, and continues to counter evil, so too will Peter Gregory Obi outlive all those who wish him harm. He will go on to win the 2027 presidential election decisively and fulfill his God-given mission of rescuing Nigeria from the chaos it has been subjected to. This purpose is ordained and must be achieved.”
