A 22-year-old Malian TikTok influencer, Mariam Cissé, has been gruesomely executed by suspected jihadists in the Timbuktu region after publicly expressing her support for the Malian army on social media.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to Nivo News, Cissé, who gained popularity for sharing patriotic content on TikTok, was abducted while livestreaming at a market in Tonka and later executed in Independence Square before a crowd compelled to witness the act.

Sources revealed that the assailants, believed to be members of the al-Qaeda-affiliated group Jama’at Nusrat al-Islam wal-Muslimin (JNIM), accused her of spying for the military. Her alleged offense was a recent video where she appeared in a Malian army uniform with the caption “Vive Mali” (Long live Mali).

Eyewitnesses reported that the militants accused her of aiding the army, stating that her online activities amounted to collaboration with government forces fighting insurgents in northern Mali. “They said she was helping the army. She was taken from the market and killed in front of everyone,” one witness recounted.

The brutal killing has sparked nationwide outrage, with many citizens and social media users condemning the act as a barbaric assault on freedom of expression. Fear has since gripped residents of Tonka and neighboring areas as jihadists continue to impose strict restrictions and carry out public executions.

Reports indicate that JNIM militants are also enforcing a blockade in the Timbuktu region, resulting in severe shortages of fuel, the closure of schools, and the suspension of university exams. Traders have lamented skyrocketing food and fuel prices, with key supply routes to Bamako heavily disrupted, deepening the humanitarian crisis.

The African Union (AU) has strongly condemned Cissé’s execution, voicing grave concern over Mali’s worsening security situation. In a statement, the AU urged the ruling military junta to strengthen efforts to safeguard civilians and prosecute those responsible for such atrocities. “Acts of intimidation and violence against non-combatants must end,” the statement emphasized.

The AU also called on the international community to step up support for Mali’s stabilization efforts and curb the growing influence of extremist groups across the Sahel region.

Additionally, the Senator expressed strong support for the APC’s prospects in Ebonyi State and lauded President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing infrastructure development in the South-East. The festivities, which began after 2 p.m. at the Emirates Stadium, wound through Highbury, Canonbury, and Upper Street before concluding back at the stadium. The procession included four buses, one of which carried the Arsenal Women’s team, winners of the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup this past February.

This celebration followed a heartbreaking 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday, where Arsenal ultimately fell in a penalty shootout after misses by Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes. Despite the European defeat, the Premier League title held immense significance for the team, coming after three consecutive seasons as runners-up.
