In addition, Anthony’s initiatives within the global iGaming industry at PawaTech, owners of betPawa and Mchezo, included the successful deployment of the Locker Room Bonus (LRB). This program, now implemented in Nigeria’s Nationwide League (NNL), utilises mobile money and fintech solutions to deliver instant, equitable rewards for male and female players.
Anthony’s career trajectory began with historic broadcasting roles at the BBC, including being the first African woman to lead football commentary at AFCON 2019. She has also worked with Sky Sports, the Premier League, and served as a Matchday Reporter for DAZN during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 in the United States, alongside Nigerian football legend John Obi Mikel. She is the Founder of LadiesMarch, a Pan-African digital network for women’s football, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary.
Leslie Koroma Sr., Founder and CEO of ASVG, stated, “These extraordinary women represent the heartbeat of African sports. Their courage, vision, and excellence inspire not just the next generation of women in sport, but an entire continent striving for transformation.” The 2026 edition of the awards is set to take place in Dakar, Senegal, alongside the Youth Olympic Games.

The festivities, which began after 2 p.m. at the Emirates Stadium, wound through Highbury, Canonbury, and Upper Street before concluding back at the stadium. This parade honored a league victory confirmed on May 19, ending a 22-year championship drought. During the event, fans were seen climbing trees and rooftops to see Mikel Arteta’s squad as the players showcased the Premier League trophy. The procession included four buses, one of which carried the Arsenal Women’s team, winners of the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup this past February.
This celebration followed a heartbreaking 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday, where Arsenal ultimately fell in a penalty shootout after misses by Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes. Despite the European defeat, the Premier League title held immense significance for the team, coming after three consecutive seasons as runners-up. Reflecting on the massive turnout, journalist Matt Graveling described the celebration as the largest sporting event he had witnessed in his 15-year career.

‘If Dem Born You Well, Call My Name!’: Aisha Yesufu Fires Back At Wike Over Failed NDC Bid
Human rights activist Aisha Yesufu has hit back at FCT Minister Nyesom Wike following his recent remarks regarding her unsuccessful attempt to secure the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial ticket for the FCT.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
During a gathering in Rivers State on Saturday, Wike had poked fun at the activist for her primary election loss, asserting that political success requires more than just media visibility and suggesting she struggled to navigate the realities of “ordinary NDC” politics.
In a sharp response posted to her handle, Yesufu challenged the Minister to address her directly, warning him that the consequences would be severe. “If dem born Wike well, make e call my name with his full chest! What Tambuwal did to him in 2022 will be child’s play,” she retorted.
Yesufu further turned the tables on the Minister by referencing his own political setbacks, specifically his failed bid for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential nomination in 2022. She alleged that Wike’s subsequent attempts to lobby for the vice-presidential slot were also rejected, and she accused him of sabotaging the PDP following his primary loss.
Maintaining that Wike lacks the moral authority to criticize her political experience, the activist indicated that she is waiting for him to name her specifically before she escalates her response. “Let me wait make the man get liver mention name! Then the man doing boi boi because he has to be in power to have authority will know those of us from Kukuruku empire of Edo State in South South no dey grovel,” she added.
