The event, themed “Teaching Entrepreneurship with a Focus on Teachers,” convened key stakeholders from the Federal Ministry of Education, the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), state education ministries, and representatives from the private sector. Discussions centered on strategies to enhance teachers’ capacity to nurture entrepreneurial thinking and problem-solving skills in the classroom.
Delivering the keynote on behalf of the Executive Secretary of NERDC, Dr. Olakunle Akinsola, Director of Educational Research, highlighted teachers’ pivotal role as catalysts for building a generation of job creators and innovators. He emphasized that empowering educators is essential to equipping young Nigerians with the resilience and skills required for the future workforce.
“When we empower teachers, we empower an entire generation,” Dr. Akinsola remarked, underlining the urgency for systemic investment in teacher development. A plenary session, “Teachers as Catalysts for Entrepreneurship Education,” showcased how educators drive innovation by adapting lessons, creating new ideas, and inspiring curiosity even with limited resources.
Through its SET4LYF (School-to-Work Educational Transition for Long-Term Youth Fulfilment) initiative, JAN continues to provide frameworks that connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities. Following the convening, JAN announced plans to issue a communiqué from its Technical Working Group, offering actionable strategies to integrate entrepreneurship education into the national curriculum and strengthen collaboration between schools and industry.
JAN reaffirmed its openness to partnerships with institutions and individuals committed to advancing entrepreneurship education, emphasizing that meaningful transformation in the education system begins with empowering teachers to lead innovation.

In separate releases on Wednesday, the opposition party and its 2027 gubernatorial hopeful, Michael Aondoakaa, slammed Governor Alia, alleging a lack of effective leadership and an inability to safeguard citizens. Conversely, the governor hit back, claiming that the opposition is cynically capitalizing on a security disaster for political mileage.
Speaking through its Publicity Secretary, Bright Antyo, the PDP condemned the administration’s sluggish reaction to ongoing violence. The party asserted that true leadership requires decisive action and empathy rather than empty words—qualities they claim are missing under the current administration.
Aondoakaa further charged that the state government is prioritizing the suppression of dissent over tackling the root causes of insecurity. He lamented that communities remain vulnerable to constant invasions and farmer displacements, yet officials treat public criticism as a graver threat than the attackers themselves, noting that the bloodshed persists despite government denials.
In his defense, Governor Alia, via his Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula, argued that the crisis demands collective compassion and unity instead of partisan assaults. The governor emphasized that his administration remains deeply committed to tackling insecurity by providing security agencies with robust logistics, intelligence support, personnel motivation, and collaboration with local vigilante networks to restore lasting peace.
