Nnamdi Kanu Challenges Supreme Court Ruling, Seeks Extension To File Review.

Published

on

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a fresh motion before the Supreme Court, requesting a review of its earlier judgment in his case against the federal government of Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

According to legal sources, Kanu’s motion pertains to the suit marked SC/CR/1361/2022, in which the Supreme Court had previously ordered his retrial. The IPOB leader is seeking an extension of time to apply for an order to review the judgment delivered on December 18, 2023.

Kanu argued that he only gained full access to his case file on October 26, 2025, for the first time since his incarceration. Having decided to represent himself, he claims this access is necessary to examine the case in detail before taking further legal action.

In the motion, Kanu requested that the Supreme Court grant leave for him to apply for a review and extend the time to properly file and serve the application. He contends that the original judgment, issued per curiam, was based on statutes that had been repealed at the time, thereby violating Section 36(12) of the Constitution and Section 122 of the Evidence Act 2011.

The motion emphasizes that the brief delay in filing the review was not intentional but a consequence of restricted custodial conditions and the delayed discovery of the legal irregularities after gaining access to his case files. Kanu described the issue as one of jurisdiction, which he said warrants the court’s intervention regardless of technical time constraints.

Supporting the motion, Kanu’s younger brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, stated that Nnamdi Kanu discovered that the statutes underpinning the Supreme Court’s ruling had been repealed. He affirmed that his brother promptly took steps to file a motion to set aside the judgment upon identifying the legal discrepancies.

The Supreme Court is now expected to consider the motion and determine whether Kanu’s request for a review and extension of time will be granted.

Momodu Defends Atiku Amid Age Criticism Ahead Of 2027 Presidential Contest.

Published

on

ADC chieftain and publisher, Dele Momodu, has dismissed calls for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to withdraw from the 2027 presidential race, describing the push as unfair and politically motivated.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Momodu was reacting to comments by activist Zekeri Idris Jnr, a supporter of Peter Obi, who urged Atiku to step aside over concerns about his age, which would be about 80 by 2027.

In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Momodu said attention should be focused on holding the government accountable rather than targeting Atiku’s political ambition.

The exchange followed a viral video where Idris insisted that Atiku should support younger aspirants instead of contesting, arguing that voters would not back an elderly candidate.

Idris also suggested that Atiku should act as a statesman and support younger politicians such as Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and others.

Responding, Momodu cited several world leaders who held office at advanced ages, arguing that experience should not be dismissed in leadership discussions.

He questioned what should disqualify Atiku from contesting, insisting that age alone is not a valid reason.

Atiku, who lost the 2023 presidential election to President Bola Tinubu, is reportedly considering another run in 2027 under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
