Striker Victor Boniface Confesses Frustration Over National Team Struggles.
Werder Bremen striker Victor Boniface has admitted that his stint with the Super Eagles has not met his personal expectations, expressing frustration over his inability to score for Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking with Nigerian sports journalist Oma Akatugba, the 24-year-old, who is on loan at Werder Bremen from Bayer Leverkusen, opened up about his struggles in front of goal. Boniface acknowledged the disappointment among fans but emphasized his pride in representing the national team.
“I have been unlucky with the national team in terms of scoring goals, even though there were a couple of games where I was not good,” Boniface said. “My biggest dream as a football player was to represent my country, and I achieved this, and I am grateful for this. Because it has not worked well for me with the national team does not mean I am a bad player.”
Despite being regarded as one of Nigeria’s most promising forwards, Boniface has found it challenging to replicate his club form at international level. He admitted that missed opportunities in key matches have tested his patience but insisted that setbacks do not define him.
“Struggles in a few games don’t define me or reduce the pride I feel every time I play for Nigeria,” he added.
Reflecting on his career, Boniface cited resilience as a key motivator, noting that injuries and humble beginnings have shaped his journey. He also defended his performance at Bayer Leverkusen, highlighting that he scored eight goals despite missing numerous games.
Boniface addressed social media criticism and transfer rumours, including a potential move to AC Milan, stating that he remains focused on his career in Germany and unshaken by public opinion.
Looking ahead, Boniface remains committed to the Super Eagles, confident that his time to shine will come. “I’m always proud to play for Nigeria. It hasn’t been easy, but I believe my moment will come. I’ll keep working hard and stay ready whenever I’m called up,” he concluded.

-
Obi concluded that this strategic approach to infrastructure would facilitate the movement of goods and people, ultimately fostering economic growth and contributing to what he refers to as a “new Nigeria”.
