Olaruwanju Olawuyi, General Manager of Nigerian Content at Renaissance Africa Energy, revealed the plans during a stakeholders’ engagement aimed at strengthening technical education for sustainable development. He explained that the initiative follows directives from the NCDMB, which regulates local content in the oil and gas sector.
Olawuyi emphasized that the project is designed to ensure sustainability and shared ownership, with work already underway, including rebuilding the school’s perimeter fencing. “We are upgrading all rundown facilities, installing the latest ICT equipment, and equipping the workshops with modern tools. The goal is to make the institution self-sustaining while enhancing students’ learning experiences,” he said.
In addition to upgrading infrastructure, teachers will undergo retraining, and students will benefit from improved resources to prepare them for professional success.
Abayomi Bamidele, Director of Capacity Building at NCDMB, highlighted the board’s commitment to both regulation and development, emphasizing the importance of leveraging local talent, assets, and production. “Our mission extends beyond oversight; we aim to develop the human capacity of our workforce, ensuring that graduates are job-ready,” he said. Bamidele added that the board’s educational initiatives span universities, professional training, and primary and secondary schools, including last year’s ‘Back to Greek’ program.
Allwell Ihunda, Chairman of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, pledged the council’s support, assuring that all illegal structures within the college will be removed promptly and that security measures will be enhanced throughout the project.
