According to Nivo News, political observers believe that eight local government areas with the highest voter populations are poised to play decisive roles in shaping the final result of the fiercely contested race.

Idemili North leads with 246,318 registered voters, followed by Awka South with 217,611. Ogbaru ranks third with 188,016, while Onitsha North trails closely behind with 183,647 registered voters. Other influential areas include Onitsha South, a diverse urban hub with 168,575 voters; Ihiala, known for its recent security challenges, with 156,715 voters; and Aguata, the home local government of Governor Soludo, with 155,881 voters.

On the lower end of the voter distribution table are Anambra West and Dunukofia, with 71,332 and 83,580 registered voters, respectively. Interestingly, Soludo’s Aguata ranks eighth in voter population, while Anaocha, the home local government of Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Mr Peter Obi, has 124,075 registered voters.

Nnewi North, the base of LP governorship hopeful George Moghalu, boasts 166,400 voters, while nearby Nnewi South, home to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu, has 102,907 voters. For Obi and Senator Uche Ekwunife—who once represented Anaocha, Njikoka, and Dunukofia Federal Constituency—the contest remains particularly intriguing, as the three local government areas collectively hold 326,655 registered voters.

In the Anambra North Senatorial District, the Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, also stands out as a formidable contender. Anambra East, home to both Chukwuma and Labour Party Senator Tony Nwoye, has 110,482 voters. Nwoye, who currently represents Anambra North in the Senate, is expected to rally behind his party’s candidate ahead of Saturday’s crucial vote. Other strategic areas in the district include Ayamelum, with 96,947 voters; Anambra West, with 71,332; and Oyi, with 120,717.

With such a broad spread of voting power across these key local government areas, the governorship election is expected to serve as a true test of grassroots mobilization, party machinery, and voter loyalty across Anambra State.

  • The officials stated they had never heard of the PFIPC prior to their deployment.

  • Due to the total lack of work, the officers reported to the office only intermittently, ranging from once a week to three times a week, merely to make an appearance.

While investigators allege that Adeyemi forged government letterheads and appointment documents to secure the staff deployment, Adeyemi has denied these allegations, claiming he is being targeted by the Presidency.
